The first week of October brought out the best of our political hopefuls at MPEUE. The students campaigned throughout the hallways, lining the walls with campaign signs and slogans. Parents came out to show their support, assisting their students with hanging posters and signs. Signs ranged from direct advertisements to comical interpretations. The week culminated with a display of the students’ oration skills. Each student presented a small speech about themselves and why they should be chosen to represent the school and their class. Elected offices included President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Class Representatives. Overall, the students made a great showing. The students who participated became part of the MPEUE Student Council. The entire group traveled to Jones Jr. College to participate in a Student Council Leadership Conference. The students participated in group and teamwork activities designed to build their leadership skills. Special thanks to Mrs. Tolbert, and club sponsors (Mrs. A. Campbell, Ms. Caples, Mrs. Adcock and Mrs. Richardson) for making this opportunity available for these students.
