     Welcome to the Moss Point School District website! Moss Point School District is on the move forward, and I am very excited to be involved with the district at such a stirring time!  I have spent most of my life in education working for a number of different states from California to Louisiana.  During my experiences, I have seen both effective and ineffective approaches to education and my hope is to take the effective techniques that I have learned and infuse them into Moss Point.  Before taking this position, I had the privilege of being the principal of Orange Lake Elementary.  During my time as principal, we saw the school go to a level 5 status and maintain that score for a number of years.  During my time at Orange Lake, I also got the opportunity to learn the flavor of Moss Point and meet wonderful people.  My feelings have always been that this city and school district have the best talent, and we need to let others know our capabilities.

     My main focus as Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum is to focus this district on working together as one unit.  The Curriculum Department is actively working to improve the curriculum by standardizing textbooks, implementing pacing guides, and employing a master teaching model at all schools.  Those who know me, know that I am an advocate for the children, and I firmly believe that all our decisions must be aimed at what is best for the students.  We must provide consistent delivery of curriculum and push our students to reach their full potential.

     We must raise our standards to meet our ‘digital native’ students.  The face of education is changing.  Fading are the days where a teacher stands in front of a chalkboard and talks all day.  Our students today are visual and kinetic learners.  They can naturally multi-task.  They are self learners, getting what they need from the Internet.  They are multi-taskers who text message their friends and listen to their iPODs all at once.  Because this is our customer, we must leverage ways to meet them in their world.  We are now doing this with technologies such as Promethean Activboards in classrooms, online learning with Moodle, and many other technologies to excite and infuse students with a quality education and 21st century skills.
